If you’re planning a convention, Christchurch also has a range of large venues on offer, most just a 15 minute drive from Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport. Christchurch Convention Centre, situated in the heart of the city provides facilities for 3000 delegates. The venue also provides a bridge link to Christchurch Town Hall for Performing Arts, another large venue. For a slightly different venue, there is also the AMI Stadium, perfect for trade shows, large cocktail events of 2500 guests and banquets of up to 500. The largest facility available is the Westpac Arena, with space for up to 9000 delegates.
Fun Activities for your Delegates
Christchurch also offers an amazing array of exciting things to see and do while conferencing in the South Island. Go Punting on the Avon River, which runs through Christchurch City or take a stroll in the picturesque gardens which give Christchurch its title as the Garden City. Get a group together and hit the Christchurch Casino, open 24 hours or check out what exciting festivals are on during the time of your stay. If you’re visiting between June and October, plan a day trip to Mt Hutt snow fields and spend the day snowboarding, skiing or making snow men. If you love wildlife, visit Orana Park Zoo with giraffes, lions and monkeys or Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, famous for its Kiwi experience.
